Ashley Strazzinski is a visual artist and creative placemaker. She uses visual art as a means of understanding and investigating systems of information and human behavior. Photography is at the core of many of her projects, however she uses a create-by-any-means approach that often results in the form of zines, collage, videos, performances, and installations. As a creative placemaker, her goal is to create a comfortable and modest place where people can come together to explore and/or exploit their creativity through productive and non-productive labor.
In May 2018 she launched a pilot program, Ashland Street Project Space, which serves as a semi-private studio as well as an event and lounge space for the community. Currently she is producing a bi-weekly zine series that chronicles North Adams City Council meetings, among other topics of interest—through the imprint, soft-boiled.
